Description (Some HTML is OK)

This recipe uses applesauce in place of oil, so it is lower in fat than most banana breads. Lots of taste, though! And you can optionally add walnuts or chocolate chips.

Ingredients

Makes 0 servings

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup applesauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tbl. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups flour

Preparation (Some HTML is OK)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Peel and mash bananas in mixing bowl (use electric mixer if needed).
Stir in sugar.
Let sit for 15 minutes.
Add remaining wet ingredients and beat well.
Add dry ingredients and mix.
Pour into 9x5 greased pan.
Bake for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Remove from oven and let stand for 10 minutes after baking.
Remove from pan and let cool on wire rack.
