Description (Some HTML is OK)

Delicious and really easy - these bars will keep the hunger pangs at bay until lunchtime!

Ingredients

Makes 0 servings

  • 250g rolled oats (not the instant kind)
  • 75g shredded coconut (dessicated is fine)
  • 100g dried cranberries
  • 125g mixed seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, sesame)
  • 125g natural unsalted peanuts
  • 1 397g tin of condensed milk

Preparation (Some HTML is OK)

Put everything except the condensed milk into a big bowl and give it a quick mix together.
Warm the condensed milk - make sure it's warm and doesn't get hot - funny things happen to condensed milk when it gets hot!
Then simply add the milk to the dry mixture and mix it all up.

Put the mixture into an oiled baking tray (23 x 33 x 4cm) and push it down firmly.
Then bake in a preheated oven at 130C or gas mark 1/2 for an hour, or until is starts to go golden brown on top - definitely worth checking after 45 or 50 minutes depending on your oven!
Leave to cool for 15 minutes and then cut into whatever size bars you like, then leave to cool completely.

Mmm mmm! Perfect for a sugar fiend like me, who is not currently allowed to eat sugary things. Easily beats the cereal bars on offer at Tesco - you should try and strike up a deal!

Do you think it can be done with honey instead of condensed milk?
