Description (Some HTML is OK)

Camping food has to be simple, preferably one pot, and if possible made with ingredients that don't need refrigerating. Haute Cuisine it is not, but warming it is.

Ingredients

Makes 0 servings

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1-2 carrots, peeled & chopped
  • 100g mushrooms, sliced
  • any other random veg!
  • 450g tin stewed steak, highest meat content you can find
  • 1 oxo cube
  • 450g tin new potatoes, drained.
  • dumpling mixture -- half suet to self raising flour -- in sandwich bag prepared before you leave home!
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preparation (Some HTML is OK)

Before you go on your trip, mix up the suet mixture. Make sure you pack a large plastic mixing bowl.

Fry the onions in a pan. Add the vegetables. Add the stewed steak, oxo cube, and a half cup of water. Add the potatoes. Make the dumplings by adding a little water to the suet mixture, and roll into balls about the size of golf balls. Add them to the top of the stew. Simmer for about 20 minutes. Eat!
