Description (Some HTML is OK)

Shepherd's cottage pie. mash and mince.

Ingredients

Makes 5 servings

  • 2 onions, diced
  • 500g mince (beef for cottage pie, lamb for shepherd's)
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 punnet mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 oxo cube/stock cube/boullion power
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp tomato puree
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 6 potatos, cooked and mashed

Preparation (Some HTML is OK)

Fry the onions in the oil, in a large pan. When they are browned, add the mince.

When the mince is browned, add the flour. Stir in, so the juices and the flour mix to help make a gravy.

Add mushrooms, carrots, water, stock cube, tomato puree. Add herbs to taste. Cook for about 45 minutes, stirring from time to time.

Meanwhile heat the oven to 180 deg C.

Pour the mince mixture into an oven proof dish. Top with the mash. Fork a criss cross pattern over the mash, to ensure crispy bits.

Cook in the pre heated oven for approx 1 hour.
