Description (Some HTML is OK)

South African. Delish.

Ingredients

Makes 4 servings

  • 500g beef/lamb mince
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • ½ tablespoon medium curry powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • ½ tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fruit chutney
  • Large slice of white bread (~3cm)
  • ½ cup (125ml) milk
  • 2 eggs
  • Bay leaves
  • Rice, broccoli, whatever else you want to serve with it

Preparation (Some HTML is OK)

1. Brown the mince in a pan (you could then use a colander to get rid of the fat).
2. Peel and thinly slice one onion, and cook with one tablespoon of sunflower oil.
3. When the onion's getting soft, add the curry powder, turmeric powder, white vinegar and sugar. And the chutney. Add the mince back in and mix it all about.
4. Take the white bread and cut the crusts off. Leave in a bowl with the milk.
5. Add one whisked egg to the mince mixture and then pull apart the bread-y goo. Add it to the mixture to bulk it up.
6. Put a couple of bay leaves on the top.
6. Bake for about 30 minutes at 180°C covered in foil.
7. Add one more whisked egg and a bit of milk to the top.
8. Bake for 15-20 minutes more.
9. Serve with rice, broccoli, or anything else.
