Braised Ox Cheeks with Parsnip Gratin
(5)
by
stuart and jen
The gratin is cooked long and slow, so that it can go into the oven with the ox cheeks. Even if there are only 2 of you ... this is a great batch to make for leftovers as it tastes even better on the 2nd day!

Oxtail with Rioja
(1)
by
stuart and jen
Sticks to your ribs ... perfect for a winter day and won't break the bank! You simply chuck it all in the oven and forget it - but what you end up with is big-flavoured, collapsing meat, a few spoonfuls of intensely flavoured juice and some big knobs of bones to suck at.

You don't need an expensive cut for this classic casserole - chuck or braising steak is best. Marinate the beef for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight for best flavour and tenderness

iphigenie

Sausage hotpot
by
Hawthorne
This is a quick, cheap, reasonably healthy meal-in-a-pot - it used to be one of my staples as a student. It also works well with Quorn sausages.
