I was inspired to have a go at this after watching the film Julie & Julia, based on a blog of one woman's attempts to make all 500+ recipes in Julia Child's seminal cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" in the space of one year. Beef Bourguignon

You don't need an expensive cut for this classic casserole - chuck or braising steak is best. Marinate the beef for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight for best flavour and tenderness

Normandy Potatoes

Tasty. This is quite a rich accompaniment, particularly if you reduce the stock & cream right down. Mum gave me this one which she's frequently used from an Italian (because there's a Normandy in Italy?) cooking book. I struggle to find something to serve this with, not that it's not tasty at all...
