Fiorentina pizza
(1)
by
claire
This is pizza as authentic as I can make it. Proper dough (made in a bread machine or kneaded by hand), garlicky tomato sauce and for the fiorentina bit: spinach and an egg cracked over the pizza just before going in the oven. This makes 4 individual pizzas (about 8" each)

Christmas biscuits

Forked and changed Ginger biscuits or Gingerbread men: "a couple more spices and some chritmassy cutters..."
A great recipe to make with the kids as there's lots of creative dough cutting to do. A great way to make some authentic gingerbread men. Dead easy and tasty too. You'll need the right shaped cutter and some creative decorations if you're making gingerbread men (we didn't, so biscuits it was)

Smoked Haddock and Grilled Goat's Cheese on Herby Risotto
(2)
by

Its the risotto that's the star of this recipe imo - you could easily use this with some grilled chicken rather than the fish/goat's cheese combo.

Basic dumplings
by
Hawthorne
This is intended to be a very basic recipe for dumplings. The variations are endless - see the preparation notes for details. These can be soft, fluffy dumplings (my favourite) or crusty and crunchy. The dough can also be rolled out to about 1 cm, and used to top a pie (yum!). The proportions ...

Butterscotch Layer Cake
by
lukkie_shipwreck
Here's a recipe from Nigella Lawson's "How to be a domestic goddess" that I use all the time. I'm especially keen to use it for making mini cupcakes. The brown sugar in this cake takes the ordinary cake sponge to a whole new level. It can be described as very rich, without being cloying.
