Bakewell Tart (1) by offmessage

It's hard to argue with a Bakewell Tart. One of my first forays into pastry (inspired by the GBBO, obviously); it's absolutely gorgeous!

Japie se gunsteling (baked orange pudding) (6) by fjordaan

A light, baked pudding redolent of oranges. This comes from Kook en Geniet (Cook and Enjoy), the bible of South African cookery, first published in 1951. I've loved this pudding as long as I can remember: my grandmother made it, so did my mother, and now, so does my wife. Our copy of Kook en Geniet...

Apple cake (1) by claire

A beautifully tasty cake that can be made with any stewed fruit such as pear, apple or whatever you fancy. It doesn't need a lot of mixing so is really really simple.

Vanilla Castle Pudding (1) by Tora

Now this is a delicious dessert that is fairly easy to say the least. I stole it from James Martin, but I've made a few tiny modifications. It's delicious with raspberriers or any other tangy fruit for a start. And makes the perfect addition to any successful dinner party.
