Cabbage and Red Lentil Daal (3) forked from offmessage

A whole meal in one pot, or a fantastic accompaniment to pretty much any curry. This is really satisfying comfort food, and a piece of cake to cook. It's ripe for all sorts of variations; stir fry pretty much what you like and whack it in at the end.

Sticky Roast Vegetables forked from ed

This works well with just about any root veg or squash. The ingredients listed are my personal favourites to give you an idea. I have used this as a meal in itself; as an aside with roast or grilled meat or mixed with tinned tomatoes as a pasta sauce. It's nearly as good cold as it is hot.

'Thunder & Lightning' Chick Pea Macaroni forked from Jonathan

A pasta dish of zen-like simplicity. Not sure which is the thunder and which is the lightning though (Italians are funny)

Double Potato Bake (2) forked from Row

Not for anyone on the Atkins diet! This was from an old Nigella recipe book, one of the few that we actually enjoyed from it. I've tinkered with the quantities a bit, and you can add another potato and sweet potato (if you're feeling ravenous) without diluting the flavour at all.

Onion and Rosemary Focaccia (1) forked from Row

You don't need a bread machine to make this, but it helps! I used my bread machine to make the dough for me, but if you're prepared to knead your own dough, then I'd rate this a 4 in terms of difficulty. The lion's share of the preparation time is actually letting the machine make the dough - ...

Welsh Tea Bread forked from Mojen

No fat (though high in sugar) tea bread. Depending on where you look depends on if it's Welsh, Irish or English, but who cares, it's nummy :) Original inspiration from: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A615070
