Simple apple pie.


Ingredients

Makes 4 servings

  • PASTRY
  • 225g Plain Flour
  • 140g Butter
  • 85g Caster Sugar
  • Grated rind of 1 Orange
  • 2 Egg Yolks
  • Salt
  • FILLING
  • 2 Bramley Cooking Apple (Or more eating apples)
  • 4 Eating Apples
  • 3 tbsp Muscaovado Sugar
  • 1 Egg Yolk mixed with splash of Milk

Preparation (Some HTML is OK)

Mix flour, butter, caster sugar and orange rind with pinch of salt in food processor.
Add egg yolk and dash of water to bind.
Butter 20cm metal pie dish.

Divide pastry in two. Roll out one half to about 0.5 cm.
Lay in pastry dish and push down the sides.
Put it and other half of pastry in fridge

Cut apples into eighths, add sugar and simmer in a pan for 5 minutes, or until apples are tender soft. Allow to cool.

Pack apple into pie dish.
Wash the rim with egg yolk and milk.
Pich edges together with thumb and finger.
Egg wash top, and make couple of small cuts through the pastry.

Bake in bottom of oven for 45 minutes.
